2017 US Track & Field High School Boys Coach of the Year


The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Wednesday the state-by-state winners of its fourth annual High School Coach of the Year award for track & field.  Oregon City High School Boys Track Coach Adam Thygeson has been selected as the 2017 US Track & Field High School Boys Coach of the Year.


Started in 2014, the award is bestowed to selected coaches based on a number of criteria: their teams’ finishes at their respective state championships, the number of different events in which athletes were qualified, individual championships and how their teams’ performances stack up to previous years, among other criteria.

Coached for 20 years, with 14 at OCHS, and 13 as the OCHS head coach.

TRL coach of the year 4 times, and Mt Hood Conference coach of the year 3 times. 


OCHS overall record in those 13 years is 102 wins and 14 losses, with a league dual meet record of 74 and 6.

OCHS has been dual meet league champions in 2007, and 2010-2017.

District meet champions 2010-2014, and 2017.
