OC Cheer is starting to prepare for next season.  Please mark the following dates on your calendar.  April 27th-Mandatory parent and athlete meeting 6:30-8:00 pm in Auxiliary gym

May 1st, 2nd and 3rd-Practice clinics, 6:00-8:30 in Auxiliary gym.

May 4th-Tryouts start at 3:30 in the Auxiliary gym.

Equestrian (Head Coach Angie Wacker, Advisor Chris Smith)

The equestrian team is gearing up for their final district OHSET meet for TRV (Tri-River Valley District) starting on Thursday, April 13.

 

Rugby (Head Coach Keith Swensen, assisted by Danny Jackson, Kevin Sowders and Bailey Andersen)

The OC Pioneers traveled to Reynolds last Saturday and dropped a 14-0 decision to the Raiders.  Oregon Pioneer Rugby Clubs Scrum Half Mason Wandschneider attacked and defended well and was selected “Man of the Match.  The Pioneers were on Reynolds tryline (goal) three times during the game but were unable to score.  The Pioneers will take on Union High School (Washington) this Saturday at Delta Park.  The match begins at 10:30 am

 

Girls Lacrosse-Varsity (Head Coach Mahealani Wong, assisted by Amanda Willis)

The Lady Pioneers dropped both of their games last week.  On Monday they hosted the Wilsonville Wildcats and lost 17-7.  Ellie Blake led with 4 goals and Kennah Watts had 4 draw controls.  The Pioneers traveled to West Linn on Wednesday and were beaten 15-6 by the Lions.  Amber Lanz scored 4 goals and Kennah Watts had 3 draw controls.  The Pioneers will host West Linn on Monday, April 10 and Lakeridge on Friday, April 14. Games are set to start at 8:00 pm.

 

Girls Lacrosse-JV (Head Coach Rachel Wong)

The JV Lady Pioneers saw their unbeaten record snapped last week dropping two games.  On Monday they hosted Wilsonville and lost 10-4.  Kendal Sumpter led the way with 3 goals.  On Wednesday they visited the Lions of West Linn and were defeated 12-5.  Lily Hargis scored 2 goals and Keely Ralston had 4 draw controls. The Pioneers will host West Linn on Monday, April 10 and Lakeridge on Friday, April 14. Games are set to start at 6:30 pm.

 

Boys Lacrosse-Varsity (Head Coach Zach Baumann, assisted by Ryan Sprague)

The Pioneers ran their record to 4-0 with a 12-3 win at LaSalle last week.  Ashton Johnson had a great performance with 4 goals. Jack Cross had a goal with a couple of assists as the defense held La Salle to 3 goals including a 2nd half shut out.  The Pioneers return to play this Friday when they travel to Lakeridge to take on the Pacers. Game is set to start at 7:15 pm.

 

Softball-Varsity (Head Coach Dave Adelhart, assisted by Mike Genskay, Chris Parrish and Nathan Hornback)

The Pioneer softball team went 2-0 last week with a 2-0 win over Tualatin and a 6-0 win over rival West Linn.

 

Monday at Tualatin, Megan Blackman had the game winning hit with a two RBI single. Morgan Hornback struck out 6 and allowed only 4 hits.  Wednesday the team played at West Linn.  Camryn Williams hits her first home run of the season in the 5th to help seal the win. Camryn ended up 3-3 on the night adding a single and a double. Morgan Hornback struck out 14 and only allows 2 hits.

 

This week the Pioneers are on the road to Canby (Monday), Gresham (Wednesday) and Reynolds (Friday).

 

Baseball-Varsity (Head Coach JJ Winkle, assisted by Andy Chapin and Justin Bugni)

The Pioneers went 1-2 last week as they opened up Mt. Hood Conference play.  On Monday in their home opener the Pioneers dropped a 3-1 game to the Centennial Eagles.  Derek Eubanks pitched 7 innings striking out 4 and walking none. Tyler Hartenstein went 2-3 at the plate.  On Wednesday at Centennial the Pioneers rebounded and came back with a 6-2 win over the Eagles.  DQ Dennis-Lee pitched all 7 innings, striking out 6 and walking none. Kyle Roley went 2-4 at the plate and drove in 2 runs. On Friday they traveled to Hillsboro Hop Stadium and took on the Central Catholic Rams.  Dill Hord pitched 4 innings striking out 2 and walking 2 but to the loss 4-2.  Logan Hansen went 1-3 with a RBI double.  The Pios saw their record move to 6-6 and 1-2 in conference play.

 

The Pioneers play Tuesday this week hosting Central Catholic; will host David Douglas on Wednesday, April 12 and travel to David Douglas on Friday, April 14. Games are set to start at 5:00 pm.

 

Baseball-JV (Head Coach Jeff Allen, assisted by Colin Smith)

Baseball-Freshmen (Head Coach Tim Richardson, assisted by Rick Elyea and Tyson Lowther)

The Frosh Pioneers went 2-0 last week to improve their record to 5-1.  On Monday they traveled to Sandy and came home with a 3-2 win and on Wednesday they hosted the Wilsonville Wildcats and won another close game 5-4.  Against Sandy Lucas Hansen had a two-run double in the 7th inning for the win and against Wilsonville Brock Riskey doubled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh for the walk off win.

 

The Freshmen will travel Westmoreland Park on Tuesday to play Central Catholic.  On Wednesday they travel to David Douglas and on Friday will host David Douglas.  All games start at 5:00. 

 

Boys Golf (Head Coach Mike Lord)

The Pioneers were able to play last week despite to the weather.  The Pioneers took 4th place for the 3rd league match of the year.  They are still in 3rd place overall.  (Top 4 team finishers will be in the Regional tournament at the end of the year)

 

Max Fabrycki and Kobe Craig led the boy’s golf team on Thursday with scores in the 80s.   The boy’s golfer will have their 4th league match this Thursday, April 13th at Rose City.

 

Girls Golf (Head Coach Ronn Grove)

The girl’s golf team hosted a MHC match last week at Stone Creek.  The Pios braved the weather and wind as multiple teams decided not to show. Their next match is Wednesday, April 12th at Heron Lakes.

 

Girls Tennis (Head Coach Rob Whiting, assisted by Quyen Wong, Carol Glenn, Rob Glenn, Jessica Lord and Jeff Landstrom)

The Pioneers were able to only get in one match last week due to the weather.  They hosted the Clackamas Cavaliers and were defeated 8-0.  They will have a make up match with Reynolds on Monday and then travel to play Central Catholic (at Mt Hood CC) on Tuesday and to Gresham on Thursday. Matches will start at 3:30.

 

Boys Tennis (Head Coach Miyka Whiting, assisted by Barry Engelman)

The Pioneers hosted the Reynols Raiders on Tuesday and won 7-1.  David Engelman won at 1stsingles (6-1, 7-6), Ben Anderson won at 2nd singles (6-2, 6-1), Jaron Soreenson won at 3rd singles (6-0, 6-1), Kyle Brown won at 4th singles (6-0, 6-1).  At second doubles Jess Leander/Tanner Jenkins won 6-2, 6-3. At third doubles Harjit Minhas/Ryan Kemeny won 6-3, 2-6, 6-2. At fourth doubles Ryan White/Manny Diaz won 6-3, 7-5.  The Pioneers traveled to Clackamas on Thursday and were defeated 8-0.  The Pioneers are scheduled to host Central Catholic on Tuesday and Gresham on Thursday.  Matches start at 3:30.

 

Boys and Girls Track (Head Coach Adam Thygeson and Kristin Mull, assisted by Wayne Harris, Brandon Lee, Amy Chapin, Brent Eggers, Brett Livingston, and Reneca Bauer)

The Pioneers hosted David Douglas and Barlow last week.  The girls defeated the Scots 78-67 but lost to the Bruins 88-57.  The 4 x 100m Relay (KJ Nyquist, Lily Bartel, Kylei Halbakken, Maddy Girffith) had a seasons best Time 51.68 which currently ranks 2nd in the Mt. Hood Conference. Kaari Guelsdorf had a 2nd place finish in a season best run in the 1500m.  Alexis Pearson had a personal best and a 2nd place finish in the 400m. Personal Best for Kailee Walker 2nd place finish in the Shot Put.  Anessa Chirgwin had a 1st place finish in the Discus. Kylie Griffin had a personal best jump of 5’0” to finish second in the high jump.  Pole Vaulter Sarah Hippler had a 1st place finish, a personal best of 10'3" and ties for 8th best mark in school history. Madison Hornback had a personal best in the long jump and had a 2nd place finish.

 

The boys moved their conference record to 2-0 with wins over David Douglas 90.5-53.5 and Barlow 98-38. Rieker Daniel won the 100 and 200, and was on the winning 4x100 relay.  Jake Harthun won the 400 and was on the winning 4x100 relay.  Israel Miles set lifetime bests in the 110m high hurdles, and the 300m hurdles.  Lane Marshall and Aydan Parsons went first and second in the shot and discus, both with big personal records in the events. Luke Peyton had a PR to win the javelin. Logan Schnoor set a new PR at 11’ 6” to win the pole vault. Jayden Schaffer’s HUGE PR in the triple jump won that event. Teron Bradford won the high jump matching his lifetime best at 5’10” and had a big PR in the 100m.  Zee Dennis-Lee had PRs in all three of his individual events and picked up needed points by jumping to 2nd in the long jump.

 

In boys JV track Mark Mironichenko won the 100m with a new season record.  Christian Whetstine and Josh Beck went 1st and 2nd in the 800m, and Josh took 3rd in the 1500 as well. Nathan Goodman and Quinn Thygeson both had big PRs to go 1-2 in the discus.

Aydan Parsons and David Staley also threw new PRs to go 1-2 in the javelin.  Momo Nithikhun set new PRs in both the long jump and high jump to win those events.

Mitchell Castor won the pole vault and Matt Purcell won the triple jump

 

The team will travel to Centennial on Wednesday, April 12 for another Mt. Hood Conference meet with both Centennial and Reynolds.  They will host the Willamette Fall Invitational this Saturday, April 15 at Pioneer Memorial Stadium. Events begin at 10:00 am.
