Just a reminder to everyone that I have been checking all student/athlete’s daily attendance the last three weeks. It is now part of the athletic policy and I have given all I have talked to warnings. Today (Monday, October 1) is grade check number two. All student/athletes who are receiving a failing grade is assigned study table on Wednesday from 2:10-2:50 in the OCHS Presentation Room.

Below you will find results from last week on how the Oregon City teams fared.
Cheer and Dance (Head Coach Lisa Ramage, assisted by Lindsay Mead, Hailey Thomas and Allyson Sewell)
Pioneer Cheer and Dance competed in OCCA State Game Day Championships on Saturday. Both JV and Varsity competed Fight Song and Band Dance/Scenario Cheer. The JV squad finished State Champion in JV division for Fight Song and second place in Band Dance/Scenario Cheer.
The Varsity squad finished third in state for Fight Song Varsity Division and second, just .67 behind state champion Aloha in Varsity Division for Band Dance/Scenario Cheer.
OCHS Drum line competed alongside both JV and Varsity during Band Dance/Scenario Cheer. Pioneer Cheer and Dance was honored to share this competition experience with them.
Boys and Girls Cross Country (Head Coach Brandon Lee, assistant Coach Brent Eggers)
Oregon City Cross Country traveled to Curtis High School last Saturday. Varsity Boys placed 10th out of 42 schools, led by Max Reed. Varsity Girls placed 23rd out of 42 schools, Katie Schroeder was the team’s number one finisher.
The Pioneer runners will host West Linn and North Marion on Wednesday. Meet begins at 4:30.
Girls Soccer (Head Coach Marshall Brewer, assistant coaches Joey Leonetti, Casey Clegg, Chelsi Brewer, and Stephen Berry)
Varsity- The Lady Pioneers played only once last week in preparation of the opening of Three Rivers League play. Last Tuesday the Pioneers headed out to Sherwood (#3 ranked girls’ team in the state). Battling injuries and illness the team battled for the first 20 minutes before Sherwood converted a penalty kick to get on the board. The Bowmen would score four more times for a 5-0 victory.
The Pioneers will play Tuesday, October 2 when they travel to Lake Oswego (7:30 start) for their Three Rivers League opener and will be back home on Thursday vs West Linn (7:00 start).
JV- The girls just played one game last week on Tuesday, September 25 at Sherwood High School. They were defeated 4-0 to a strong Sherwood team but once again just could not convert our chances. The girls had several opportunities but couldn't find the back of the net.
The Pioneers will play Tuesday, October 2 when they travel to Lake Oswego (7:30 start) for their Three Rivers League opener and will be back home on Thursday vs West Linn (4:00 start)
JVII- The Oregon City JVII Lady Pioneers won back-to-back home games last week to extend their winning streak to six games with a record of 6-0-0. The ladies won the first of the back-to-back against Canby High School 2-0 on first-half goals from Freshmen Anya Remsburg and Grace Leasure. Sophomore Goal Keeper Caroline Benson recorded three saves to earn the shutout victory.
The defense led by Sophomore defender Rowan Wiley and Freshmen defenders Raegan Yates, Payton Ashley, and Harley Daniel held the Lake Oswego High School attack to four shots the next day in a thrilling 1-0 win for the Lady Pioneers. Daniel would assist on the first goal of the season for Freshman Sydney Brown, who scored in the final minute of the game off a corner kick for Oregon City. Benson had two saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season. Oregon City outshot Lake Oswego 24-4. The JV White Lady Pioneers have outscored the opposition 13-2 through six games this season.
Next up for the JVII Lady Pioneers are three games this week that starts with a Monday matchup at Tualatin High School. JVII returns home for games on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 4:00 p.m. against Lake Oswego High School and against St. Mary’s Academy on Friday, Oct. 5 at 4:00 p.m. Both home games will take place on Field 8.
Boys Soccer (Head Coach Ian Feldt, assistant coaches Edgar Mora Mendoza, Dave Jordal, and Alvin Salazar)
Varsity- The varsity boys are still searching for their first win of the season and suffered a 4-0 loss to number one ranked Central Catholic last Monday.
Playing one of the toughest non-league schedules the Pioneers now open up Three Rivers League play this week. They will host Lake Oswego on Tuesday in a 7:00 game at the stadium and on Thursday travel to West Linn for a 7:30 game.
JV- No games reported last week. Will play Tuesday in their TRL opener against Lake Oswego. Game time is 4:00 on Field 8. On Thursday will travel to West Linn (Rosemont Ridge Middle School) for a 5:45 game.
JVII- No games reported last week. The JVII Pioneers will play at home today (Monday) in a 4:00 game against Canby and will travel to Lakeridge for a 7:00 game on Wednesday.
Volleyball (Head Coach Head Erica Frafjord, assistant coaches Doug Keightley, Kathleen McCord, Sara Wilcox, Gabi Rush, and Meghan Frogner)
Varsity- The Pioneers had another great week in league play. On Monday, the Pioneers traveled to Lakeridge to take on the Lakers. After a slow start, the Pioneers battled back on offence to secure a 5-set win. Grace Woods returned to the court after injury and helped propel the Pioneers to victory.
On Wednesday, the Pioneers competed against St. Mary’s Academy. The Pioneers started off playing well but had to battle for 5 sets to secure the win. A total team effort, the Pioneers were led by outside hitter Ali Brown with 21 kills and 12 digs. Madison Hornback added 16 kills and 11 digs. Kelli Temple led the team in digs with 15. Madison McKenna led the team in assists with 29.
This week, the Pioneers travel to Canby on Tuesday and West Linn on Thursday. Matches start at 6:30. Currently the Lady Pios are 5-5 overall and 5-3 in league play.
Junior Varsity- The JV Lady Pioneers continue to improve and battle for every point. On Monday they beat the Lakeridge Pacers in their own gym in two tight sets (25-23, 25-23). Junior Rory Schedler, Sophomore Madison Wilcox and Sophomore Abby Bareksten were all perfect on serves, including four aces from Madison. Sophomore Hailey Charierre added three aces of her own. Kaylee Falachetti made several brilliant saves to help preserve both victories.
Oregon City hosted the Blues of St. Mary's Academy on Wednesday. After running away with the first set (25-16), the girls dropped the second (21-25) and ultimately came up just a bit short in the thrilling and deciding third set (14-16). Freshman Emma Pruett had a run of 11 straight serves, including seven aces.
This week, the Pioneers travel to Canby on Tuesday and West Linn on Thursday. Matches start at 5:00.
JVII Black-The JVII Black volleyball team split their two league matches last week. At Lakeridge they fell by a 2-1 score and at home against St. Mary’s on Wednesday took both sets against the Blues. Cali Henricksen had a great serving night against St. Mary’s and Sarah Kitancevski had some great kills from the right side.
On Saturday in their home tournament the JVII Black made I into the semifinals before dropping sets to West Salem 25-18, 20-25, 10-15.
Oregon City travels to Canby on Tuesday and West Linn on Thursday. Both games at 5pm.
JVII Red-The JVII Red team had an outstanding performance this week. All of the JV2 Red team’s
dedication, commitment, determination, enthusiasm, hard work, and love for the game paid off!!! On Monday the JVII Red beat Lakeridge 2-0, on Wednesday they beat St. Mary’s 2-1. In their own hosted tournament on Saturday the JVII Red team made into the semifinals of the Gold Bracket before dropping a hard fought 25-23, 20-25,11-15 match to McNary.
The team will compete this week at Canby on Tuesday in a 6:30 match and at North Clackamas Christina on Thursday in a 5:00 match. On Saturday they will travel to Southridge for a tournament.

Varsity-The OC Pioneers saw their record drop to 2-3 on the season and 0-2 in TRL play with a 44-27 loss at Lakeridge.
Colby Iverson was the leading rusher with 74 yards on 16 carries with 1 touchdown and also threw for 194 yards and 3 touchdowns. Calvin Green was the leading receiver with 82 yards on 7 receptions and 3 touchdowns.
The Pioneers will travel to Tigard to take on the Tigers this Friday, October 5. Kickoff is at 7:00 pm.
JV-No games reported.
The JV’s will play at home on Thursday against Tigard with a 4:00 kick off.
Freshmen- The Frosh saw their record dip to 3-2 with a 61-15 loss to Lakeridge last Thursday. The Pioneers managed two scored. One from Terrance Newborn on a one-yard run and one from Paxton Page from 5 yards out.
The Frosh Pioneers will travel to Tigard this Thursday. Kickoff is at 4:00.
