Athletic News and Program Summaries 


Below you will find this weeks athletic calendar and last weeks results.  On Wednesday the Lady Pioneer volleyball team will host an OSAA 1st Round State Playoff game against the Lake Oswego Lakers at 7:00 pm(doors open at 6:00).  Since this is a OSAA state playoff game the only valid passes are OSAA distributed.  Adults are $6.00 and K-12 students are $4.00.  This will be the same for Saturday's home girls soccer match as they host the West Albany Bulldogs at 7:00 (gates open at 6:00).  This Friday is Senior Night at the home football game.  We will recognize the seniors from the football, cross country, band and cheer/dance programs.

Last Weeks Program Results 

Below you will find results from last week on how the Oregon City teams fared.

Boys and Girls Cross Country (Head Coach Brandon Lee assistant Coach Brent Eggers)

Both the boys and girls cross country teams Cross raced against Central Catholic, Grant, Jefferson and Franklin at Lents Park last Wednesday. Calvin Bryant led the boys team with a top ten finish. Kaari Guelsdorf, Brynne Shroufe and Katie Schroeder were the top 3 girl finishers from OC.  Final conference standing for all OCHS cross country teams are as follows.  Varsity Boys 4-3,  Varsity Girls v5-2,  JV Girls 6-1, JV Boys 5-2.

They will travel on Wednesday to Centennial High School for the Mt. Hood Conference District Championships.  Races begin at 2:00 pm.

Girls Soccer (Head Coach Marshall Brewer, assistant coaches, Joey Leonetti, Tiffani Traver, Casey Clegg, Stephan Berry, and Chelsi Brewer)

Varsity- The Lady Pioneers finished their regular season last week by winning their final two games.  On Tuesday against Reynolds the Pioneers started the scoring 8 minutes into the game. minute mark. Chloe Leonetti sent a great ball into Abi Willett for a goal. Four minutes later Chloe sent one into the back of the net for the second goal of the game. Amber Jewel followed four minutes later off a free kick and one minute after that Nevaeh Taylor scored a great header goal off of a Chloe Leonetti assist. The Pioneers finished the half with goals by Abi Willett (her second) and Mya Pfenning. Hailey Willett started things off in the second half by scoring a great goal off of a Hailey Pieratt assist. With seconds left in the game Freshman Taylor Salisbury scored her first varsity goal of the year.  Final score was 8-0.  At Centennial (2-0 win) on poor field conditions the girls adapted.  Abi Willett got the first goal off an excellent ball from sister Hailey Willett. 10 minutes later Abi scored her second goal off a great ball from Chloe Leonetti. The Pioneers are now 9-2-1 (3-2 in MHC). 

The Lady Pioneers will host a first round OSAA State Playoff game this Saturday (October 28) against Valley Leqague opponent West Albany.  Start time is 7:00 pm.

JV- The JV girls' soccer team finished the season strong.  On Tuesday at the last home game, a win of 10-1 over Reynolds HS.  On Thursday the girls traveled to Centennial HS and finished the season with a 10-0 victory!  Goals were scored by many different players, 7 were scored by Haley Craig last week.

JVII- The JVII Lady Pioneers earned a 3-3 draw against Newberg High School last Monday at home. Freshman Emily Burgoyne scored her lone goal of the season in the first half, while Courtney Randall scored two second-half goals to aid the team to their fifth draw.

In the season finale, the JVII Pioneers dropped a heart-breaking 1-0 loss at home to Clackamas High School. Goalkeeper Caroline Benson continued to show her successful season in between the posts by making another collection of saves for the JVII.  They finished their season at 3-5-5.

Boys Soccer (Head Coach Josh Cameron, assistant coaches Edgar Mora Mendoza, Dave Jordal, and Ian Feldt)

Varsity- The Pioneers won one last week and had a draw in their final regular season contests.  On Tuesday at Reynolds, Alejandro Lopez filled the stat sheet with a goal and assist in the 3-0 win. He battled and was awarded with a nice goal and nice assist on a Anthony Avellaneda goal. Toni Bautista also scored his 7th goal of the season.

On Thursday at home against Centennial (0-0 tie) the entire back line (Robbie Hamilton, Edson Jimenez-Sutton, Reilly Combs, Brandon Bautista) played well in this defensive battle between the league’s top two defenses. They played incredibly well limiting Centennial to no real chances throughout the game.

The Pioneers finished third in the MHC and now wait to see who their opponent will be in the first round of the OSAA State Playoffs this Saturday (October 28).

JV- The Pioneers dominated Reynolds last week in a 5-1 finish. Goals scored by Luke Koski, Grant Didway, Josh Beck, Josepher Juarez-Cruz and Alan Servin-Pureco led the way.  At homeon Thursday the Pios played Centennial to a 1-1 tie when Jeffery Judd tied the game midway through the 2nd half.  The defense of, Josepher Juarez-cruz, Bailey Hellberg, Alex Ferriera, AJ King, Colin Conley, Aiden Spellman, and Johnny Brito, played exceptionally well, keeping the game close.

Volleyball (Head Coach Head Leejay Lee, assistant coaches Doug Keightley, Richard Haner, Kathleen McCord, Erica Frajford, Emily McAlindin and Sara Wilcox)

Varsity-The Varsity team had another great week. Against Clackamas, on Thursday, the team fell short of taking a set but the first two sets were very competitive with opportunities for the team to win.  Although we lost, the team played well for two sets and continue to move closer to the best version of ourselves.  Earlier in the week the team took care of business against Reynolds (3-0). The big news is that the team finished ranked 3rd in the Mt. Hood Conference, behind both of last years state finalists, and finished ranked in the top 16 teams in the state.  The Lady Pioneers will host a first round playoff game this Wednesday for the first time in an estimated, 6 years.  

The first round OSAA match is Wednesday October 25th at 7pm against the Lake Oswego Lakers.  Please come out and show your support for the Lady Pioneer volleyball team.

JVII Black- The JVII Black team finished up the season strong with two great performances last week. On Tuesday, the Pioneers defeated Reynolds in straight sets. On Thursday, the Pioneers played their best match of the season against Clackamas. Although the team lost, the match was competitive and exciting to watch. Strong serving by Hailey Charriere, Kaylee Falaschetti, and MacKenzie Norton gave the Pioneers many points. The defensive efforts were led by Lexi Petro, libero. Hitters Amiyah Holford, Faith Bufarale and Sydney Fogelman kept the pressure on Clackamas to play defense. It was a great match to end the season.  The Pioneers finished the season 10-4.

JVII Red- The JVII Red hosted Scappoose and traveled to Lake Oswego last week in their final games of the season.  The JVII Red came out on top in both matches beating Scappoose 2-0 on Monday and finishing with a 2-0 win over Lake Oswego on Thursday.

Varsity-The Pioneers traveled to MHC leader and the states number one ranked team Clackamas last Friday.  Clackamas scored early but Austin Bonner connected with Teron Bradford on a 59 yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 7-7.  The Cavaliers scored four more times in the quarter before Ethan Kasebaum scored from 10 yards out in the second.  Austin Bonner was 13 for 23 for 260yds and 3 touchdowns and 1 interception.  Senior Teron Bradford caught 10 passes for 207 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Pioneers will host Reynolds this Friday in their last Mt. Hood Conference game.  Kick off is at 7:00 pm.  This is Senior Night and the senior football players will be recognized prior to the start of the game.

JV-The JV’s hosted the Clackamas Cavaliers last Thursday and were beaten 48-2.  The loss drops the JV record to 4-3 overall.  They will travel to Jesuit this Thursday for a 4:00 pm game.

Freshmen- The Frosh Pioneers traveled to Clackamas last Thursday and came home on the wrong side of a 39-0 game.  The loss drops the Frosh record to 4-4 overall.  The Frosh Pioneers will host Reynolds this week for a 4:00 pm game on ThursdayThank You.
