The Pioneers took a devastating loss to Central Catholic recently 34-14. Although this loss set their record at 6-3, the Pios are still set for the playoffs beginning Friday, Nov. 4. OCHS is ranked 11 in the state.
The team has two league games left, taking on Clackamas on Oct 21 and Reynolds on Oct 28.
“Everyone has done enough studying on them, so this game will really prove how far we’ve come.” senior defensive end Aiden Vanriper said. “It’s definitely going to be a battle, but this week in practice emphasized the tempo we want to play at the game.”
Clackamas is ranked 9 in the league and prove to be a challenging and took the win 41-34. Next week's game looks a little easier against Reynolds, who are ranked 25.
“It’s a new year and we just have to make sure we come out and not let Reynolds think they have a chance.” senior offensive tackle Tevin Adams said. “We can't look past them even though we are ranked higher than them anything can happen in the game of football. As you can see Central Catholic lost to Centennial 46-36 so we can't look past them”
These last two games will lead the boys to playoffs where they hope to take it all the way to state.
“I’m glad we got the win this past season but we have to put those games behind us and really focus on the mistakes we made,” senior defensive player Michael Wright said. “ The mistakes we made in the past games may come back during playoff, causes us the game and the playoffs. Or we can perfect those mistakes and move into the playoffs and show people how far we came as a team.”
