Numerous students know of the SAT, but the ACT is also an option for college testing. The ACT is a knowledge test over reading, mathematics, english, science, and the optional writing.Registering for the test will take about 40 minutes and the testee will need a desktop or laptop with internet connection, a credit card or other form of payment, high school course details, and a headshot photo.

Oregon City High School student, Alayna Woodall said, “ It was really easy to register and they explained everything clearly which is important because I need to take this test to submit to Oregon State University.”

The ACT is not a mandatory test.  Senior Jake Worthey said he is not taking the test because “I feel that the SAT is looked at more and it has a bigger score so bigger importance.”

To prepare for the test, ACT offers online prep, an official ACT prep guide, and sample questions.

Senior Danielle Bowen said, “The hardest part for me while taking the ACT was time management.”

The ACT costs $42.50 without the writing section.  With writing the ACT costs $58.50.  The extra $16.00 writing fee can be refunded on request before the test begins if the testee wants to switch to the ACT without writing or if the testee is absent on test day.

Extra fees depend on the circumstance.  The late registration fee costs $27.50.  Test date or test center change costs $25.00.

If the testee is unable to afford the test they can request a fee waiver. Fee waivers only cover the basic registration fee on a national test date.

To take the test you will need to have a printed copy of admission ticket, an accepted form of photo identification, two No. 2 pencils, and a permitted calculator.
